For Trump and Brexit voters, echoes of the same frustrations

Although many of Trump's political events come together at the last minute, this event was perhaps his most disorganized yet.

Trump then proceeded to spend the aftermath of the Brexit vote doing damage to whatever gains he should have made.

It seemed to be a softening of Trump's initial call, made in December, for a "total and complete shutdown" of all Muslims attempting to step foot on USA soil. The vote had an immediate impact on the U.S. race, with Trump hailing the result as a triumph of nationalism and Democrat Hillary Clinton warning of the risks it posed to global economic security. It's a feeling Trump has also tapped into in the he campaigns to put "America first" and "make America great again".

They also set off a cascade of events that could spark global economic chaos, remake the Western world, reverberate through November's presidential election and challenge US security for years to come. "The U.S. election is a personality contest right now".

Hillary Clinton's campaign is out with a new ad slamming Donald Trump's response to Britain's historic vote to leave the European Union, NBC News reported.

"I don't want to have a plummeting pound", Trump said.

"The media is unrelenting".

In Scotland to visit one of his golf courses, Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, embraced the vote as vindication for his own platform of robust nationalism and immigration control.

Paul Manafort, campaign manager for Trump, rejected what he called a "phony" charge by Clinton and said Trump was more in sync with the global economic frustration exemplified by the Brexit vote.

"Great surveillance and vigilance must be adhered to", said Trump in an statement provided to CNN. "They will have the chance to reject today's rule by the global elite, and to embrace real change that delivers a government of, by and for the people". The American electorate is far more diverse and Trump is deeply unpopular with minority voters, a serious weakness dogging his Republican candidacy. I think the European Union might break up before anybody thinks in terms of Scotland.

Pollsters in the UK underestimated the fury of grassroots voters outside metropolitan areas in a way that could be mirrored in the United States, where Clinton now enjoys a lead in national surveys. "They're angry about many, many things in the United Kingdom, the US and many other places". "When the pound goes down, more people are coming to Turnberry".

"What have these policy advisers done for us?"

Hicks said in an email that her boss took this new position - which is a dramatic scaling back of the position he first took in early December - during a policy speech almost two weeks ago. That may be true, but isn't that a message better suited for Trump's critics?

First, Trump had landed in Scotland, not for diplomatic meetings with high-level officials to enhance his commander-in-chief stature, but to help his financially troubled golf course in Scotland.

The discussions were brokered by Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

He said: "Hillary Clinton - or crooked Hillary Clinton as I call her - and Barack Obama called it totally wrong".

Ewen MacAskill ‏of the Guardian, who was able to attend a Trump press conference on Friday, said he was turned away on Saturday. "I am good at getting things zoned".

The New York Post's editorial page endorsed Trump in April, for instance.

They were essentially tied, 39 percent for Clinton and 38 percent for Republican opponent, when third-party candidates were included, this poll showed.

But Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee and establishment favorite, is trying to turn the episode into her campaign's latest example of why the GOP standard bearer is unfit for the presidency - arguing he has failed another test of leadership.
