Samsung in talks with LG Chem for new smartphone batteries: Nikkei

One of the more humorous developments from the whole Galaxy Note 7 debacle was the introduction of a Grand Theft Auto V mod, which added the phone to the game as an explosive device.

Note 7 owners are to claim in the filing that they had visited retail stores four times to purchase the device at the very first, check batteries, exchange the faulty device with a replacement one and swap it with other smartphone.

And then, it's the suspicious case of Wesley Hartzog from SC who claims that his garage caught fire exactly when the Note 7 was charging inside, so he blames the phone for all damages. The suit reads that Samsung waited until September 21 to roll out replacement phones.

According to news reports on October 20, the Korean tech giant is talking with LG Chem for possible partnership in a move to diversify its battery suppliers other than Samsung SDI and China's ATL. The company recalled the safe Galaxy Note 7s and then chose to discontinue the phone.

Samsung's recall and subsequent discontinuation of its Galaxy Note 7 will likely have far-reaching implications for the company's vaunted mobile division. He's now seeking financial damages from Samsung for his phone, his home, but also for the nights he spent at a hotel with his family. On that incident Samsung was given an egg on its face when a message supposed to be sent to a fellow Samsung employee was sent to the customer.

We all thought that now Note 7 fiasco will go under the covers and people will someday forget it for real but it doesn't seems like that Samsung wants people to forget what Note 7 did to them at least for now it seems like this only.

In order for companies to be able to sell smartphones at major carriers in the United States, they are required to have their phone batteries tested at one of the 28 labs certified by the USA wireless industry's trade group, the CTIA.

According to a report by The Guardian, a number of old customers who had suffered properital damage from their Galaxy Note 7 are not being provided compensation for the same from Samsung.

Note 7 devices in China used the ATL batteries, which Samsung said were safe. Samsung has since canceled the phone, with carriers and retailers pulling the phone from shelves and urging customers to return the defective and unsafe phone.
