Man Caught With Over 100 Stolen Phones At Coachella

Heavy traffic leaving Valley expected Monday morning

Thirty-six-year-old Reinaldo De Jesus Henao of NY was arrested for possession of stolen property after security officers and police reportedly found 100-plus stolen phones in his backpack on the first day of the festival, according to Digital Trends.

Several festival-goers noticed that their phones were missing and activated their 'Find My iPhone' feature, which provides users with the Global Positioning System location of their phones.

36-year-old Reinaldo De Jesus Henao was later arrested on suspicion of stealing a haul of handsets, which authorities posted a photo of (above). Henao didn't turn off the phones after taking them, which allowed users to pinpoint his location. A lot of them have now been returned to their owners, while the rest are at the event's lost and found section.

"I noticed some chatter on social media about phones disappearing on Reddit", said Indio Police Sergeant Dan Marshall in an interview with Gizmodo.

Henao, who was at the Empire Polo Club, were detained by security guards until police arrived.

Police then started to keep a close eye on the tent.

Numerous phones were returned to their owners with the remaining devices being handed in to Coachella's lost property.

The New York man faces charges of grand theft and possession of stolen property. If you're constantly using your phone to take pictures and not paying attention to who's around you, you're advertising yourself as an easy target for pickpockets.
