Apple pledges to make eco-friendly iPhones and stop mining soon

Galaxy Note 8 to Battle iPhone 7 Plus with Dual Lens Camera

Talking to Fairfax, Dickson said the chances of this one being real or a final product are about 50/50, but that it's "it's hard to know with Apple".

This 2017, Apple is believed to launch the iPhone 8 with an OLED display, which is evidenced by the recently inked deal with Samsung for 70 million panels.

Apple is testing a more advanced camera sensors for the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 is expected on the 10th anniversary device this fall.

For every 100,000 iPhone 6 devices produced, Liam can recover 1,900kg of Aluminium, 800kg of Copper, 0.3kg of Gold, 55kg of Tin, 550kg of Cobalt, and 24kg of Rare Earth Elements.

Leaks and rumors so far have suggested that at least one new iPhone model will feature an nearly bezel-free curved-glass front.

The "closed loop" project is probably the most immediately interesting of Apple's long-term initiatives, but the full report is worth a read if you're interested in Apple's energy production and water use, how it sources paper and reduces the amount of packaging material it uses, and how it attempts to cut down on waste by building more durable components that last longer.

APPLE HAS SAID IT PLANS to stop using mined products in its devices in the years to come, and instead use renewable resources and recycled material to build its products.

The multi-billion dollar company is melting down iPhones, which are returned by customers for recycling, to make minicomputers used in its factories. "For tin, we took a different approach", the company stated.

Apple doesn't necessarily need to recover as much tin, compared to aluminium, due to an existing market of recycled content.

The ultimate aim is "to one day end our reliance on mining altogether", the company said, without specifying a date. While Apple has been reluctant to disclose the precise percentage of recycled materials utilized in its products, there is no doubt that this is significant.

"Trying to pretend that we can make it easy to fix the product, and that you still get the product that you think you're buying - that you want - isn't the answer", Jackson said, adding that iPhones are simply too "complex" to be repaired by anyone other than an authorised Apple party.
