Among the other major decisions announced through a series of royal decrees on state television was the removal of Information and Cultural Minister Adel Al-Toraifi, local media reports said. Fahad Bin Turki was promoted to replace him.

Minister of Telecommunications and IT Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel has been replaced by Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha. "This is a very excellent step toward rationalised spending", Mohammed al-Tuwaijri, deputy minister of economy and planning told state-run Ekhbariya TV.

The king changed some regional governors, along with numerous senior bureaucrats including the head of the general authority of sports as the kingdom tries to provide more athletic activities for its people.
