Man Killed by Bachelor Star Chris Soules Was Vietnam Veteran

Chris Soules, Whitney Bischoff and More 'Bachelor' Stars React to His Arrest

In the emergency phone call, the former The Bachelor star was breathing heavily while speaking to a dispatcher, and he sounded like he was possibly crying.

The Buchanan County Jail confirmed to the Des Moines Register on Monday night that Soules was arrested after the crash that took place in Aurora, Iowa. He is accused of not immediately stopping his vehicle at the scene and failing to return and remain at the scene of the crash, according to a police report.

Bachelor star Chris Soules has spoken out for the first time since his involvement in a fatal accident that claimed the life of fellow farmer Kenneth Mosher. He is now free on a $10,000 bond and was uninjured in the accident.

A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m.

Variety reports that Soules attempted to get some help by calling 911 before fleeing the scene of the accident.

Soules was friendly with Mosher, the man who was killed in the accident, RadarOnline.com reported.

After making the 911 call, Soules allegedly left before law enforcement arrived.

Soules said they did and then asked, "Can I call you back really quick?"

After failing to win Soules' heart on The Bachelor's 19th season, Nilsson competed against Kaitlyn Bristowe to become The Bachelorette's eleventh-season star.

Authorities said Soules had alcoholic beverages or containers with him, but they said they were still investigating whether he was impaired. He also said they are also trying to identify the person who picked up Soules and that this person could be charged, depending on the circumstances. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein where doctors were unable to save his life.

Today, Radar Online is reporting that authorities in Soules' Iowa hometown are investigating the accident as a criminal matter and have not ruled out the possibility that alcohol was a factor in the crash. We have law enforcement, medical en route to you.

"I feel a pulse, yeah, he's got a pulse", Soules stated.

Approximately five hours after fleeing the scene, Soules is arrested.

"Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home". His publicist released a statement Tuesday saying Soules was devastated to learn Mosher had died and that Soules offered his thoughts and prayers to Mosher's family. He must wear an ankle-bracelet monitor and has turned in his passport.

Mosher, a lifelong resident of the Aurora - population 200 - lived on his family farm near the crash site, reported the Argus Leader.
