Fox News Radio Correspondent Sues for Retaliation

Fox News hit with another gender discrimination lawsuit

A former Fox News radio reporter has sued the network and its parent company, saying she was sacked last month in "a blatant act of retaliation" for reaching out to a company hotline to complain about gender retaliation.

Fox is still dealing with the fallout from the ousters of star host Bill O'Reilly this month and CEO Roger Ailes past year, both of whom were accused of sexual misconduct by more than one female coworker.

Another woman has filed a lawsuit against Fox News, this time with an allegation that she was sacked 24 hours after contacting investigators looking into whether there is a pattern of sexual harassment and discrimination within the company.

Golloher's suit claims that she was sacked 24 hours after reporting gender harassment - or as the suit put it, "marginalized and subject to discrimination based on her gender".

"Defendants' decision to terminate Ms. Golloher is a transparent act of retaliation and a clear attempt to silence yet another victim of discrimination at Fox".

Douglas Wigdor, an attorney for Golloher who is also representing other employee lawsuits against Fox News, called the case 'yet another indication of [Fox's] lack of oversight and retaliatory animus for those that are fearless enough to report unlawful conduct'. Her allegations of discrimination and retaliation are baseless. "We will vigorously defend the matter".

The suit was filed by attorney Douglas Wigdor, who is representing eleven current and former Fox News employees who have filed a racial-discrimination lawsuit against the company (Fox News "vehemently denied" the claims), and who this week offered comments via letter to Ofcom, a British regulatory agency that is reviewing whether 21st Century Fox meets required standards to purchase Sky, the British satellite-TV giant. Both men are named in the suit.

During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Golloher's superiors gave the lead coverage role to a London-based male reporter, Simon Owen, even though he didn't speak Russian and wasn't familiar with the region, according to the complaint.

"While Fox may claim that the decision to terminate Ms. Golloher was made before she sent the email on April 17, 2017, any such defense would be preposterous given that Ms. Golloher had previously complained about discriminatory treatment and she was provided no notice or warning whatsoever regarding any potential termination."

The source also said the Paul Weiss law firm attempted to follow up with Golloher twice after she contacted them, but she never replied.

Fox News is facing a number of sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits, including a proposed class action by non-white employees who say they were mocked and humiliated due to their race and paid less than white coworkers. Her lawsuit claimed that the network had fired her after she had used the company's hotline to report harassment.

The suit also accuses Fox News Radio anchor and producer Dave Anthony of "speaking down to her" but she "never heard Mr. Anthony patronize or speak down to similarly- situated male reporters".

After reporting the firm, the complaint stated that Fox told Golloher that she has to leave in August for cost reduction reasons.
