LeBron James overtakes Michael Jordan for most playoff points in National Basketball Association history

He’s labeled “the best basketball player in the world” and affectionately called King

They were supposed to play the Golden State Warriors there, and they will, deciding the league title for a third consecutive year.

When James takes the court June 1 in Oakland, Calif., he will be appearing in his seventh straight Finals while seeking his fourth title. The Cavs set an National Basketball Association record by winning their 13th consecutive series closeout opportunity.

LeBron James focuses his eyes not in surpassing Michael Jordan's statline but cementing his own legacy. "But we're going to enjoy this for a couple more days before we have to lock in on that juggernaut out west". Cleveland won by one on Christmas Day, Golden State prevailed by 35 on January 16. The Cavaliers won 135-102.

Jordan's 6 National Basketball Association titles are twice as many as James's 3, two of them won with the Miami Heat before he returned to Cleveland with the avowed aim of bringing a championship to his home state of Ohio.

Say what you want about him joining the Warriors but it's been smooth sailing for the team and Durant since he joined. "I think maybe people just fail to realize that you just have two great teams and don't appreciate that. We need to understand the privilege that we have and the opportunity that we have to play in the Finals again, to have the opportunity to win a championship".

Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue was quoted earlier this week saying he thought Boston's offense was "harder to defend" than Golden State's.

For the third straight year they'll face the Warriors for the crown.

Much more of that sort of that will likely follow over the next week, filling time before Golden State plays host to Game 1. What made it even more unbelievable is that Smart is normally not a good three-point shooter. "It's our job to make sure that we defend him as best we can and just make every - take other guys out of the game".

"You know they're giving us everything that they have, and we're expecting it, and we want the challenge".

For James, the Finals are an annual rite. The Warriors swept the Spurs in four games, while the Cavaliers only needed five to take care of the Celtics.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, James will enter the Finals as an underdog for the sixth time in eight career appearances. The story lines are plenty, including a few fresh ones, such as acting Golden State coach Mike Brown going against the team he coached not once but twice. "Because they got a tough group over there".

Irving, who shook off a Game 4 twisted ankle, shot 9 of 15 from the floor and 4 of 8 from 3-point range. "I went when I was 23 years old, and it felt like the Western Conference Finals was nearly like the championship". You've got [Kevin] Love standing out there, you've got the different shooters, J.R. Smith and obviously LeBron. "We have a bigger goal in mind". Without Thomas, they became a more defensive team which they showed in the second-half comeback. How will Golden State guard Kyrie Irving?

This marks the first "threematch" in NBA Finals history.
