Man jumps into moving car to save driver having a seizure

Dashcam footage from the Dixon Police department shows the moment a car runs a red light at a low speed going into incoming traffic

As police approached the scene, Tompkins jumped through the passenger window of the vehicle, which was moving about 10 miles per hour.

On a Dixon, Illinois street on Friday afternoon, drivers came across an unusual sight as a blue vehicle slowly ran a red light and began driving the wrong way down a busy road.

Tompkins backed his truck up out of the way as you can see in the video.

As the auto was moving, Tompkins got out of his truck and jumped inside through the car's window, putting the vehicle in park.

The driver was having a seizure, according to officials, and was later transported to KSB Hospital. The footage shows Tompkins as he stopped his auto, got out and dove inside the wayward vehicle. On Friday, he and his wife were in Dixon when they spotted a vehicle in the wrong lane, headed for their truck.

The police later thanked Tompkins for his heroism and for coming to the aid of a complete stranger.

"My adrenaline is still going", Tompkins wrote. Hell, if my sister was still single, I'd even go as far as giving him her phone number, but since that isn't the case, the "job well done" will have to do.

"Tompkins was able to get the auto in park just as officers approached the vehicle as well", the police said in a statement posted on Twitter.

The department responded saying, "Yes, because in the 10 seconds we were behind the vehicle we could see with our x-ray vision the driver was seizing and let him keep driving". That's some remarkably quick thinking and selfless action, there.
