Windies level ODI series with four-wicket win

Afghanistan's Rashid Khan demolishes West Indies with 7-wicket haul

The two teams will now lock horns in the series decider on Wednesday.

Afghanistan struggled against the extra pace and bounce of the home seam attack, making just 135 off 37.3 overs, the lowest ODI total at the Darren Sammy Stadium.

Afghanistan: Asghar Stanikzai (captain), Noor Ali Zadran, Javed Ahmadi, Rahmat Shah, Samiullah Shenwari, Mohammad Nabi, Afsar Zazai (wicketkeeper), Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Amir Hamza, Dawlat Zadran.

West Indies will be concerned though about Gabriel's fitness as he was forced to leave the field in the course of his sixth over with what appeared to be a side strain. At the end of 11 overs, Afghanistan were placed 39 for four.

West Indies, led by an unbeaten 48 from Man-of-the-Match Shai Hope, won with 64 balls to spare and four wickets in hand.

Choosing to bat first, Afghanistan were in trouble right from the get-go as captain Jason Holder, Shannon Gabriel and Alzarri Joseph carved through their top and middle order easily.

On what turned out to be a comfortable chase, went serious on resumption when Rashid (3-26) was introduced.

Naib also chipped in with two wickets from his medium- pacers and at 72 for 4 when Jason Mohammed fell, after having been 55 for 1, it looked as if another embarrassing capitulation might follow.

Unlike in the opening loss on Friday, the Windies were given a breezy start this time around as Lewis and Kieran Powell (12) put on 40 off 41 balls for the first wicket.

When every run need to be earned, Hope (48 not out) showed a lot of character and was well supported by Rovman Powell (17) in their brief 25 run stand.

West Indies, who stumbled to 149 all out in that match, shored up their batting with the inclusion of the allrounder Rovman Powell in place of the fast bowler Miguel Cummins, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
