Google will help you Search for a job

Millions of us are signed up to LinkedIn, accepting friend requests from people we don't know - in the vain hope it might somehow get us a job.

According to Google, many job seekers are unable to find the right job.

Google for Jobs finally went live on Tuesday, after first being announced at the Google I/O keynote in May. Those using Google in English on the desktop and mobile devices will see such results beginning immediately.

U.S. tech major Google has set its sights on leveraging its search engine expertise to build a strong platform for job hunting via a robust employment engine. All the jobs listed at different sites are attributed with something that identifies them as a job posting.

The service, launching today in the United States, is an artificial intelligence-powered job search tool aimed at making it easier for jobseekers to find roles.

Google is teaming up with a variety of help-wanted and employer-rating services, including LinkedIn, Monster, WayUp, DirectEmployers, CareerBuilder, Glassdoor, and Facebook. From there, the Google for Jobs widget will appear with a collection of listings and plenty of filters. It now has no plans to let employers posts jobs directly to its jobs search engine for example (though that would surely be lucrative). You can further refine your search by using filters which will show you full time jobs, part time, jobs by industry, jobs by location, date on which the job was posted, and other categories.

We want to hear from you. Basically, anything that seems like a job-seeking search, Google will offer targeted job filtering. (Or if they'll substantially improve the experience.) The main advantage seems to be simply that Google is promising to put all relevant job listings in one place, while removing any duplicates. Anything beyond that is not in Google's wheelhouse, he added. It is publishing open documentation for all jobs providers, including third-party platforms or direct employers, detailing how to make their job openings discoverable in this new feature.
