Indiana Pacers Get Multiple Offers for Paul George During the Draft

Chris Paul re-elected as president of the NBPA

There has been some speculation that it could take a third team for George to be traded to the Cavaliers, one of the teams that expressed interest in the Pacers All-Star.

ESPN's Marc Stein reported Sunday night that the Cavaliers, before the draft, tried to recruit the Denver Nuggets for a three-way trade that would have involved George landing in Cleveland, Kevin Love heading to Denver, and a host of other pieces changing locations. In addition, Denver is looking to get an upgrade at the power forward position with Love amongst the players they are interested in.

The specific players Denver would have sent to IN are not immediately known, but veteran forwards Kenneth Faried and Wilson Chandler and guard Emmanuel Mudiay are all known to be available.

The sticking point in the deal is that the Nuggets are not yet willing to part with either of their two best players - 20-year-old guard Jamal Murray and Serbian big man Nikola Jokić - but an agreement could still be reached, Haynes said.

Prior to the draft, Cleveland was unable to land Paul George or Jimmy Butler, but that hasn't stopped the team from their pursuit of the former.

Denver, according to sources, also hopes to crash the list of suitors for Los Angeles Clippers unrestricted free agent Blake Griffin and Atlanta Hawks unrestricted free agent Paul Millsap.‎. If the Pacers weren't high on D'Angelo Russell, I have a very hard time believing they'd want Emmanual Mudiay, so that would leave Harris. The Nuggets could be the missing link to make such a trade possible, according to ESPN .

Another scenario, let's say Paul George gets traded to a contender. George, one of the best two-way players in the game, has spent the past seven seasons in IN and averaged a career-high 23.7 points last season.

While many thought the trades were dead, they might be as alive as ever.
