Mersal row: Complaint filed against Vijay for hurting 'Hindu sentiments'

Ruling BJP which is called a Hindu party for its views and supports Hindus took a dig on Tamil hero Vijay in the same way. In a tweet, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said, "Mr Modi, Cinema is a deep expression of Tamil culture and language. Don't try to demon-etise Tamil pride by interfering in Mersal", he wrote on his Twitter handle. The scene continues to get thunderous applause in theatres but alas the producers have made a decision to chop it off to steer clear of the controversy. Vadivelu then opens his wallet and shows the thief that it's empty - thanks to Digital India!

He also asks there was no GST on alcohol but people have to pay 12% GST for medicines. They demanded removal of scenes mocking GST.

BJP's National Secretary H. Raja and Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamilisai Soundararajan criticised Vijay and the movie for the dialogues critical of GST and Digital India. He said that even before the movie's release it had courted controversies which were "set right" and added, "it is anguishing that the film has courted several controversies within a few days of its release".

The romantic action Tamil movie Mersal in which Vijay shared the screen with three attractive and talented actresses Samantha, Nithya Menon and Kajal Aggarwal received good-word-of-mouth at the box office which hikes the box office collection of the film. By collecting Rs 31 crore on the opening day, "Mersal" has scored way above "Kabali", which had pulled in Rs 23.3 crore a year ago.
