A North Korean missile crashed into one of its cities a year ago

Kim Jong-un in his new year’s speech to the country warned US claiming that he had a ‘nuclear button is on his desk at all times

In late April 2017, Pyongyang launched a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile that failed minutes after launch.

The unnamed source showed The Diplomat images from Google Earth from today compared to ones taken in 2016 to show the damage.

There have been no reported deaths as a result of the apparent stray rocket, but the damaged building is close to heavily populated areas.

And new reports would suggest that those fears may have come true.

However, the cold relationship between South Korea and the North showed signs of thawing in the beginning of 2018. It is believed that the success of the missile paved way for Hwasong-14/KN20 intercontinental-range ballistic missile (ICBM), unveiled by North Korea previous year.

Fresh UN sanctions and ongoing North Korea missile tests have ratcheted up already high tensions between the hermit nation and the US. Problem arose when its engines failed only minute into the flight, it has been said.

Despite North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un's recent boast about his nuclear button, a newer report has revealed that there might be some grave errors hiding behind the country's attempt at keeping up appearances. It also signals the seriousness of regime's frequently stated intent to develop weapons capable of attacking the United States.

North Korea's incessant missile testing throughout 2017 escalated tension with the USA; and by the looks of it, 2018 is not going to be any better.

Following the ICBM missile test on November 27, U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said that the missiles North Korea is developing "could threaten everywhere in the world".

Those threats came as North Korea held a massive parade in its capital Pyongyang on Saturday to mark the 105th anniversary of its founding father Kim Il Sung - and to showcase its military might.

The missile has been designated the Unha-4, and is planned as a larger version of the Unha-3.

Despite multiple testing failures, Hwasong-12 missile was successfully test launched on May 14.

While in the April crash, the missile had only managed to reach an altitude of 40 miles, in the successful May launch, it was able to cross an altitude of 1,245 miles.

While both landed in the ocean, this new report of a failed missile test certainly poses the possibility that a failed missile test over Japan could cause grave destruction there. "We are sending an armada, very powerful". Kim Jong Un even claimed that he has a nuclear button on his desk at all times - prompting US President Donald Trump to hit back saying his nuclear button is bigger.
