United Kingdom police probe white powder sent to royal couple

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly sent a letter containing a powder thought to be anthrax earlier this month (Feb18).

The Evening Standard newspaper reported that the package was a letter containing white powder and a racist message.

The Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism unit was called in after the letter was received at Kensington Palace on February 12.

"The substance was tested and confirmed as non suspicious", they noted, adding: "Officers are also investigating an allegation of malicious communications which relates to the same package".

A reception will also be held at St George's Hall for the couple and the rest of the congregation before a private evening reception for close family, hosted by Prince Charles.

"The substance was tested and confirmed as non-suspicious", they said.

Analysis taken from both letters found the powder they contained to be harmless.

"To say who I am, to share where I'm from, to voice my pride in being a strong, confident mixed-race woman". The investigation is ongoing, though there have been no arrests so far.

The daily reported counter-terror officers were called to the palace on February 12, a day before a similar package was reportedly sent to Home Secretary Amber Rudd, which also was found to be harmless.

It looks like not everyone is happy about the upcoming union between Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle.

St James's Palace and Kenginston Palace have refused to comment.
