Chiefs Cornerback Heading to Los Angeles

Report: Chiefs Sending Pro Bowl CB Marcus Peters To Rams In Trade

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams. Schefter is reporting the deal is expected to be complete by the end of the day today. The NFL league year doesn't start until March 14, so the deal will not be official until then, but for all intents is purposes, it's done.

After a few days of speculation about cornerback Marcus Peters' future in Kansas City, it appears he won't have one.

Peters has made headlines throughout his career in Kansas City for more than his performance on the field. He earned All-Pro honors during his first two seasons, as well as earning the defensive rookie of the year award from the Associated Press in 2015.

He certainly seems pumped about the idea of playing alongside Peters with the Rams.

But he also found plenty of controversy. The writing has been on the wall, especially after Andy Reid opted to suspend Peters for a game this past season.

Peters thought he was ejected after that incident against the New York Jets and left the field, only to run back out - not wearing socks - when he realized he was not disqualified.

Peters has drawn the ire of some fans for refusing to stand for the national anthem, even though he has never explained why he is protesting. During his three seasons with the Chiefs, there has been a long history of character concerns and reports of Peters wanting out. He was scheduled to make $1.74 million in 2018 with a cap hit of $3.04 million.

The details have yet to be released, but according to Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs will be receiving a bundle of draft picks in return.
