National Enquirer Paid Trump Doorman $30000 To Quiet Affair Rumors

Feds are trying to determine if the American Media Inc. helped Trump during the presidential campaign

Mr Sajudin told the magazine that he had heard a rumour that Mr Trump fathered an illegitimate child with an employee at Trump World Tower, a skyscraper he owns near the United Nations.

A new report by the Associated Press and "The New Yorker" says that Donald Trump possibly fathered a sixth child, this one out of wedlock, and his friends at "The National Enquirer" paid to cover up the story before the 2016 election.

"He's infamous for making up stories", Nikki Benfatto said of Mr. Sajudin.

"When we realized we would be unable to publish ... we released Sajudin from the exclusivity clause that had accompanies his $30,000 payment", he added. He said he was acting as a Trump spokesman when he did so and denied knowing anything beforehand about the Enquirer payment to the ex-doorman.

On Monday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Cohen's hotel room and office looking for information about the McDougal and Daniels payouts, Trump's infamous Access Hollywood tape, and communications between Cohen, Trump, Pecker, and AMI's chief content officer Dylan Howard. According to the outlet, longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen also knew about the matter and spoke with the tabloid before it ultimately made a decision to quash the story. "Unfortunately, however, Dino Sajudin is one fish that swam away".

The AP also reports that four longtime Enquirer staffers directly familiar with the episode says they were told to stop investing the tip before they were able to confirm potentially promising reporting threads. Daniels, who claims to have had a sexual relationship with Trump in 2006, was forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement barring her from speaking out about the alleged affair, although she and her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, have since claimed the NDA is moot because Trump himself did not sign the document.

The tabloid made its first-ever endorsement by officially backing Trump for president.

"AMI doesn't go around cutting checks for $30,000 and then not using the information", Jerry George, a reporter and senior editor with AMI until 2013, told AP.

"The behavior is so extreme and so weird", she said.

Dylan Howard, editor-in-chief of the Enquirer, denied the company was "catching and killing" stories to protect Trump, saying the story was not published because the claims could not be proven. The National Enquirer's publisher, American Media, Inc., paid Sajudin for his silence and threatened to sue him $1 million if he came forward with his controversial story or if he told him. The media company later said it paid McDougal for a series of "fitness columns and magazine covers". Paying upfront was not the Enquirer's usual practice because it would have endangered the source's incentive to co-operate, he said. However, he did not know that the Enquirer gave Sajudin $30,000 for his silence.

"I believed from the beginning it was not true", reporter Sharon Churcher told the New Yorker.

Sajudin said he heard the tale from employees and residents of Trump World Tower and passed a polygraph test, RadarOnline reported.

Sajudin, in a brief interview with The News outside his home in the Poconos, said he was struggling to deal with the sudden attention.
